As President of the American Women of Berkshire and Surrey (AWBS) from June 2009 – June 2010, I was responsible for ensuring the organization of 400 expatriates from around the world run smoothly. The organization is always in state of flux with people moving in and out of London, England. AWBS offers members monthly meetings with speakers; more than 20 activities like art lectures, bridge, French, golf, and travel within the UK and Europe; formal events; information on living in England via morning coffees and an annual guide; and getting involved in local Philanthropy. Most of my time was spent motivating expatriates to volunteer.
In January 2007 – June 2009 I was Vice President of Information Technology. I stepped up to the position mid year to design, and develop the American Women of Berkshire and Surrey new website http://www.awbs.org.uk. Identified additional functions needed and then developed the site and trained all the organization’s volunteers. The new site is easy to use and maintain, and offers user forums and better security. I developed the product with a Joomla interface, newsletter module, document storage module, database modules for membership and referrals, Google calendar, Rocket Theme templates and a PayPal interface.
